The traditional "Kids Pets" - the hamster, mouse, rat and budgie, among many others, don`t always belong to children of course!
They do occasionally get sick. We are delighted to see them, along with their owners who are often very attached. Many of their ailments can be managed conservatively, perhaps with changes in their management or diet.
If they do need surgery, we have a dedicated anaesthetic set-up for them, which dramatically improves the success rates of the operations.
We also see the more unusual pets, some of whom require unusual operations:- the parrots who needed braces fitted to correct beak deformities, the goldfish who needed an eye removed which had become affected with a cancer, the budgie who needed a leg amputated because of intractable infection!!
