Veterinary Referrals
I take referrals in all aspects of internal medicine, and some soft tissue surgery – notably thoracotomies and oral cancer work. We regularly manage cases in all aspects of disease – some of the recent include:
- management of the unstable diabetic
- chemotherapy for lymphoma
- adjunctive doxorubicin therapy for many soft tissue or bone cancers
- paraneoplastic syndromes
- hyperthyroidism
- Polycythaemia
- inflammatory bowel disease in dogs and cats
- gastric stasis in rabbits
- cardiac tamponade
- urinary tract investigations and imaging
- polycystic kidney disease
- Investigation of acquired murmurs (often HCM) in cats
At Cedarmount we have a good range of diagnostic equipment which facilitates high quality work:
- Colour Doppler ultrasound (and training and experience in its use!)
- Equipment for accurate blood pressure measurement in dogs and cats
- A range of rigid and flexible endoscopes - allowing imaging and biopsy of nasal chambers even in cats, stomach, duodenum, colon, vagina and bronchi
- iStat in house blood gas analysis
- robust and accurate blood work using the abc haematology analyser
- High quality microscope for accurate cytological examination
- All work is supported by TDDS – Andy Torrance`s lab in Exeter – we are very grateful for his specialist back up which is often invaluable in investigation of difficult cases.
