Vet and Receptionist Profiles

The Vets
Our job-sharing vets, Kerry Parkhill and Lisa Allen both qualified from Glasgow, in 1986 and 1996 respectively, holding the same BVMS MRCVS degree. They are both very experienced small animal clinicians, and are unfailingly cheerful and enthusiastic members of the team.

Lisa (vet) doing some canine dental workThe workload at Cedarmount can be very heavy, and both are capable of the high level of concentration and multi-tasking required to keep on top of the caseload. We are very fortunate to have them both! Lisa and Kerry, in their spare time, are accomplished equestrians, regularly competing around Ireland at various disciplines including eventing, dressage and show jumping.

Alan Hartley

Alan Hartley joined us in the middle of our renovation chaos in the summer of 2007, and was immediately clearly a first rate choice for an additional veterinary member of the Cedarmount team. From a farming background, Alan is 9 years qualified, and has fitted in extremely well. His good humour and cheery disposition never seem to flag: we are delighted he has decided to stay.

Receptionists

Rachael "Ruby" Atcheson needs little introduction to most of our clients, having worked in the clinic in one capacity or another for over 20 years!
Ruby Atcheson winning the Petplan Receptionist of the year 2002. She has made many, many good friends through her work, with a massive rapport especially with the cats and cat-owning members of the practice. We have lost count of how many kittens Ruby has re-homed over the years - but she hasn`t, and keeps in contact with many of their new owners. Her own cats are an important part of her family life, and with so many, there`s never a dull moment. Ruby was honoured to win the Petplan receptionist of the year in 2002, a well-deserved win, against stiff nationwide competition - many thanks to all our clients who supported her entry.Another of our Receptionists Suzi Mercer
We are also very lucky to have recently recruited Suzi Mercer. We have known Suzi for years, when she visited us as a client, with one or more of her dogs, cats or hens if they were sick! She has a wealth of experience, having worked in a small animal veterinary practice in Glasgow for many years, before moving to Northern Ireland. It`s great to have her on board, and lovely to have a cheery Scots welcome at the desk!
